Another recommendation I would make is to find a good
boarding kennel in your area. You'll never know when you might need a place to take care of your Beardie during some period when you aren't able to do so. Finding a kennel ahead of time can make the life of you and your Beardie a lot easier in case such a facility is needed.
My
definition of a “good” kennel would be one that will ask you to provide vet
certifications of inoculations of your Beardie; and one that will always gladly
allow you to personally inspect their facilities. I would then get your Beardie use to
occasionally going to the kennel you’ve found.
Just plan on taking a weekend trip and leave your Beardie in the kennel
for a night or two. Do this two or three
times “just for fun”. This will give
your Beardie a chance to get used to the boarding kennel and to realize that
it’s not such a horrible place. And this
will give the boarding kennel a chance to get to know your Beardie.
